How this one fails

What we find on Viking

Two Viking facts change the conversation before any work starts. Auto-defrost control boards are a four-figure part on their own, which means a refrigeration fault has to be pinned precisely rather than approached by substitution. And dual-cavity ranges carry a separate igniter per cavity — one failed igniter is not the same job as two, and quoting it as though it were is how customers end up feeling misled. We price both honestly and say which one we found.

  • Oven igniter glowing but never reaching the current needed to open the gas valve
  • Refrigerator running warm with the auto-defrost control at fault — verify before ordering, the part is four figures
  • Dishwasher circulation pump failed, where the part is most of the invoice and the labour is an hour
  • Range top burner simmering unevenly across the grate after a spill has fouled the ports
  • Door hinge sag on a heavy pro-style oven, throwing the seal and the temperature with it

★★★★★

Every burner clicked when I turned one knob and I was sure the whole thing had gone. He said that is one ignition module doing it, not five failures, and had it swapped inside an hour. Enormous relief for what I had feared.

Convection side heated normally and the microwave side did nothing at all. He said those are two appliances sharing one cavity and they fail separately, which narrowed it immediately. Magnetron. Knew before he arrived what he was likely looking at.

Marianne L. · Brookline

Condensation on the inside of the glass every humid week. He checked the seal and the zone control, found the lower zone working far harder than it should, and traced it to a sensor. Glass has been clear all summer since.

Independent, and clear about it

We are not authorised by Viking and we do not claim to be. We fit parts made to the manufacturer's specification, we diagnose before we quote, and the $95 service call comes off the repair once you approve it.
