Salem Dense historic centre where getting an appliance in or out is a genuine planning problem, and coastal air that shortens condenser life.
Beverly A mile inland the salt exposure drops sharply, and it shows in how long coils last. Beverly kitchens run the full range from compact to substantial.
Gloucester The most exposed coastline we cover. Condensers here corrode faster than anywhere else on our list, and a unit that has never had its coil cleared will fail earlier than the same unit inland.
Marblehead Older coastal houses with kitchens fitted into tight footprints, and enough seasonal properties that standing water in an ice maker is a recurring find.
Peabody Inland enough to escape the worst of the salt, with a housing stock that is mostly post-war single family and straightforward to work in.
Danvers Suburban and inland, with a good proportion of kitchens renovated recently enough that the appliances are still in their first decade.
Ipswich Historic houses and coastal exposure together — the two conditions that make a repair harder and a condenser age faster, in the same place.
