Miele dishwashers hide their filter under a coarse screen that a lot of owners have never lifted, and the machine will run for years on a partly blocked one before the wash quality drops enough to notice. Wash quality had been dropping off for a year and I could not say when it started. He lifted out a filter I did not know existed and it was half blocked. Cleaned, showed me how, and charged for the visit rather than inventing a part.

Warm at the top of the cabinet, cold at the bottom. Turned out the condenser had drawn in a decade of dust from the cooktop a few feet away. Cleaned properly and the airflow came back. He suggested a rough interval for doing it again.
