Professional gas, dual-fuel and induction ranges.

Range Repair

A range brings together two independent systems — the cooking surface and the oven cavity — and they fail for unrelated reasons. Burners are gas, spark and cleanliness, usually in that order. Ovens are ignition, sensing and, on anything with a self-clean cycle, the latch and thermal fuse that the cycle puts under the most stress.

He told me up front that these have a separate igniter for each cavity, so one failing is not the same job as two, and quoted for the one that had actually gone. That kind of straightness is why I will call again.

One burner had gone yellow and uneven after a bad boil over. He cleared the port ring with a toothpick, of all things, and warned me never to let anyone near it with a drill bit because you cannot undo that. Flame is even again.

Front left burner sparked and sparked and would not catch. He checked gas first, then spark, then found the cap fouled and shorting the spark somewhere useless. Cleaned and reseated. He did not sell me an igniter I did not need.

The $95 covers the visit and the full diagnosis and comes off the repair once you approve it. If it turns out nothing should be repaired, we will say that too.
