Fridge was fine but the noise behind the cabinet panel had got loud enough to hear from the hallway. Turned out to be the condenser fan, not the compressor I had convinced myself it was. One part, one visit, no drama.

Open-burner ranges built around raw output. Simple mechanically, which means most faults are exactly where the symptom points.
How this one fails
BlueStar runs open burners with no sealed pan under them, so spills reach the port ring directly and a burner that has gone uneven is usually a port that needs clearing rather than a part that needs buying. A straightened paperclip or a toothpick is the right tool for that. A drill bit or a needle file is not — widening a port permanently changes the flame and cannot be undone.

Wash quality had been dropping off for a year and I could not say when it started. He lifted out a filter I did not know existed and it was half blocked. Cleaned, showed me how, and charged for the visit rather than inventing a part.

The downdraft rose halfway and stopped there. Damper had stuck shut so the blower was pulling against nothing. Freed and adjusted, and he tested it a dozen times to be sure it would not do it again.
