It refused to run a steam cycle with a full tank. He asked when it had last been descaled before touching anything, which turned out to be never. Descaled properly, checked the pump, and it has behaved since.

Dacor put a screen on things other manufacturers left as a knob, which is good until the control board is the failure. The useful diagnostic habit with this brand is to separate what the panel says from what the appliance is doing: a reported temperature and an actual temperature disagreeing by fifty degrees is a sensor story, while a panel that has gone dark with the oven still heating is a display story, and they are different repairs at different prices.
